Define Your Task!

-What is the big question?
-What are the smaller questions you need to know? List subheadings.
Big Six Information Skills
-What do you already know?
-Did you pick the topic or is it an assigned topic?
--You have more flexiblity if you picked the topic.
--Assigned topic? Make sure you understand the task. Re-check assignment often.

Check your Information Sources

Is there enough information on your topic?
Are books available?
YHS Library and the Madera Public Library
Does the available information answer your questions?
If not, rethink your original question – expand or narrow as necessary.
